Jonathan Martin set to capture 2011 USA Modified Series Championship

INDIANAPOLIS (Oct. 11, 2011)   22-year-old Jonathan Martin will strap into his number 30 Modified on Saturday, October 15 knowing once he fires the engine at Winchester Speedway he will be crowned the 2011 USA Modified Series champion.

"I am really looking forward to the weekend of the Winchester 400," proclaimed Martin.  "All we have to do is start the feature and we will be the 2011 USA Modified champions, so that takes a lot of pressure off of us.  I'll have a brand new power plant from McGunegill Engine Performance so I am confident we will be able to compete for the win also."

Martin has raced in select races with the USA Modified Series for five years but decided for the 2011 season he would focus on making the entire tour.  After three solid races he found himself in the top spot in points and from there he has had no other goal but getting himself the championship.

"This season has been a lot of hard work by a lot of people," said Martin. "This championship is for everyone that has played a part in the success of this season.  I have had so many quality people willing to help me this year, it is unreal.
I have the most supportive family and group of friends on the planet.  I wouldn't be able to do anything without all of them.  God has blessed me with great opportunities in my life and surrounded me with some great people."

The Winchester 400 weekend begins on Friday with practice for all division and races for the CRA Front Wheel Drives, Street Stocks, and Sportsman.  On Saturday, October 15 Martin will be battling for the victory and claiming the championship during the Run for the Gun USA Modified season closer.  Practice begins at 11:50 p.m. on Saturday followed by qualifying at 3:15 p.m. and racing at 5:00 p.m.  The CRA Super Series will conclude the weekend on Sunday with a 400 lap action packed feature.

Indianapolis, IN (June 18,2011)
As the 2011 USA Modified Series schedule comes to its halfway point this weekend at Winchester Speedway one man now has his eyes on the prize, the prize of being crowned the 2011 USA Modified Series Champion.

Jonathan Martin, a 22 year old native of Ft Wayne, IN, has been running in select races with the USA Modified Series for five years but has never focused on the point's championship. He began racing in Karts at the young age of 8 at his local track, Baer Field Speedway. After two track championships the youngster made the move up to the Street Stock division. Being a quick learner he snatched his first win at the age of 14 and quickly backed that up with another championship title.

"I have no idea what it would mean to win the USA Championship, stated Martin.  Just to think about the possibility of my name being on the same list as Rodney Scott, L.J. Lines , and Scott Coe is pretty unreal to me. "

This year Jonathan's determination came after a challenging 2010 season.

"Last year started off great. We built a new car and ran mainly at Baer Field Speedway and ended up being fast time 6 out of 10 races and won a feature.  We overheated the night we won and had engine problems the rest of the season. We sent the engine back to Kercher Engines at the beginning of the year and it's running the best it ever has so far this year."

After finishing fourth in the USA Modified Series opener at Toledo Speedway he knew the motor issues had been resolved for good and he was committed to running the entire USA Modified Series Tour. Half way through the season Martin is now leading the point's battle and hopes to maintain solid finishes throughout the rest of the season.

"I have so many great people and sponsors that help me out. We wouldn't be able to travel around if it wasn't for sponsors like SealWrap Repair Tape, WBCL, Kasco Mfg., Vore's Welding and Steel, and Economy Auto Parts. "

Come out and watch Jonathan Martin race his number 30 modified at Winchester Speedway on Sunday June 19 or the Rowdy 251 at Berlin Speedway on Tuesday June, 21.  Gates open at 10 a.m. on Sunday with racing at 2 p.m. and then racing on Tuesday begins at 7 p.m.
